The main reason why some people are more successful than others is because they use their time more effective than others.

So I thought let me share with you a strategy that I have learned in 1994 that has helped me.

The first thing is to stay focused.

I am using these questions to stay focus through out the day  

Summary of my time management questions

“What can I do right now that will have the greatest positive impact on my life, goals and attitude?”

I ask secondary questions to supplement the main question:

•     “What will have the greatest impact on my life?”
•     “What will help me to achieve my goals with greater ease and more joy?”
•     “How can I enjoy the process more? How can I gain the right attitude?”

By incorporating these questions in your daily planning you will find that it is easy to find balance and to live a life of high productivity.

Step by step time management

1. List everything you need to do.
2. Once that is done, separate the important and trivial items from one another.

• At the top of your list, list the important things that you must do and at the bottom of the page list the trivial things.
• Either the important or the trivial items can become urgent. Unfortunately, the trivial, urgent things normally keep us away from the important things.
• By focusing on the important to-do list it becomes your power list

3. Number the items on the top of your page in order of importance.
4. Then do the same with the trivial list.

When I was a professional financial, I used to cluster groups of tasks together. For example, if making phone calls was No. 3 on my list, and I had to phone 10 people, I would prioritize the calls in order of importance as 3a, 3b, 3c, and so on.

I did the same thing with the appointments I scheduled.

5. Start working on the most important thing on the important list and give it all of your attention. If that one thing is all you have to do for that day, that’s fine.

If you cannot go any further with this No. 1 item, or if you complete it, then you move on to No.2, but only when you have completed No. 1 or cannot pursue it further.

In this way you work your way down the list as far as you can go. If you complete everything before the end of the day, well done. If not - well done anyway.

My point here is that you do not have to complete everything on your list. You just have to address it in the right order.

A philosophy professor stood before his class with some items on the table in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with rocks, about 2 inches in diameter.

He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.

So the professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles, of course, rolled into the open areas between the rocks.

He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.

The professor picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else.

As a society, no matter where you are in the world, we have been conditioned into believing that making money is difficult, you need to ‘work hard’, ‘take risks’ or leave it to the ‘professionals and guru’s’, well this could not be further from the truth.
