In this episode of Wealth Insights I'll show you a short cut to building a multimillion business.

What is the quickest and fastest way for you to take a business from zero and grow it into a million Rand business or a multi million Rand business? Or what is the quickest way for you to take an existing business and turn it into a million or a multi-million Rand or a multimillion Dollar business per year?

In this Wealth Insight you are in for a surprise, because I’m going to give you a simple but yet easy strategy which you can follow and implement almost immediately.

I want to explain to you the principle and once you understand the principle you are going to see how easy it actually is. And then I’m going to give you a practical example so that you can see in real life that which I’ve done with one of the businesses which I am involved in I’m in.

Not only to increase the income drastically, but also how to save myself time in order that although at the present moment I’m actually doing nothing I still manage to get to the kinds of figures which I get.

So let’s start with the idea and the principle. If I’m selling a product for R1 I need to sell 1,000,000 of those products in order to make R 1,000,000.

Now what if I sell a product and the profit on that product is R10? I would have to sell 100,000 units in order to make R 1,000,000.

If we take it up one notch we will see that if I sell it for R100, I only need to sell 10,000, and therefore if I sell it for a R1000 I only need to sell 1000 units at the end of the day.

So you can see where we are going with this: R10,000 -100 units, R100,000 – 10 units, and then of course if I’ve got the competency level and the skill level in order to sell a product or a service for a R1,000,000 I only need to sell 1 in order to get to my target of R1,000,000.

Now will you agree with me, if I want to sell a product for R10 that means I need to sell 100,000 of these products in order to get to my million?

And will you also agree with me when I say, in order to sell the 100,000 units I am going to need a huge infrastructure. I’ll need secretaries, I’ll need a dispatch department and I’ll need auditors and a financial guru just to check that everything is okay.

But if I’m going to sell 10 units for R100,000 each, then I don’t need the infra structure.

So the principle is if you are selling products for a low price you are going to be very, very busy. And the moment you understand that, I think, then you will understand that in order to double your income it is going to take less and less work.

Now let’s take this and make it more practical.

About 9 years ago Tanja came to me, I retired at the age of 37 mainly because of my property portfolio, and she said that I should go and teach people how to invest in property. Because she discovered that people did not know how to invest in property, although most people have property, very few realize the investment potential and how to remove the risk.

So I thought okay, what is the quickest and easiest way for me to get into the market. So I decided to write a book. I started writing this book, and at one point the book was finished and I thought how on earth am I going to get this book out? And the logical conclusion which I made at that point was to take it to a publisher.

I then approached a publisher or two and we sat down, first of all I’ve never written a book before, secondly my English is not that good and I think because of that they told me they aren’t 100% sure if this thing is going to be a winner. (To be a top writer in South Africa you only have to sell 4000 books.)

And after they listened to me they said a book on property investment (at that stage) would sell between 130 to 150 and then they asked me about my marketing strategy, how am I going to market this book, and it sounded like a lot of work.

So I look at this and I thought no way this is not a Wealth Creators strategy.

Now what is a Wealth Creators strategy? It is the intelligent use of limited resources, (and the biggest of my limited resources at that time was my time and effort), to go from where you are, to where you want to be, in the shortest amount of time, with the lowest amount of risk!

And I said to Tanja, I will do it on condition that I get at least R1,000,000 out of the deal. I don’t want to go through all that trouble if you are not going to make a million. I mean I was on retirement at that stage, there was no reason for me to do it, unless I could help a lot of people to get to certain financial goals.

So I sat down and said what am I going to do? Then I broke it down into two sections. Firstly I changed it and started the beginner’s course. The same book which I had written, I turned into a manual.

Then I said ok I’m going to turn it into an intermediary course and of course I used the Property Pro Program (which I developed in 1987). I used all of this and began teaching the beginners course, which was apparently not that basic because it took a whole day.

In 2003, 2004 and 2005 I spent a lot of time presenting the Basic Property Pro Course as I soon realized that their where thousands of people who were interested in what I had to say about property investment and how to avoid the risk.

However, what is important here is that I was able to convert a product which cost me R10.00 to create into a product which people were willing to pay R6000.00 for, so as my level of competency grew, so I was able to work far less and earn far more.

A year or so later my students where coming back and saying: “Hannes what about property developments?” “What about property warrants?”, “What about commercial property?” and “Can we do exactly the same thing?”

So I did a full day course just on that using exactly the same material and the same program but I expanded it a little bit more.

Then in 2005 I started the mentoring course, which took up more of my time than I bargained for. Then I simply turned it into a product, so I turned my service into a product.

I did it by making a video of the seminar and started selling the video of the beginner course for exactly the same price as the seminar. Then I took the day course and did exactly the same thing. Instead of standing there the whole day I turned it into a product.

And then we did exactly the same with the advanced. And if you take this whole package, without me having to work for it because I have put in the time and the effort once in order to get me the money, or in other words, the intelligent use of limited resources, we sell it for about R10,000.00.

So you see, by simply working smarter you can get to your goal a lot easier.

Now you might ask, how on earth can I do this? The answer is simple, by simply increasing your competency level. Eureka. I think I've finally got it. We need to start Focusing our attention on creating R10 000 information products in our areas of expertise where we have found there is a huge need & demand for in the market & we only need to sell 100 units to reach our goal of R1 000 000.
I think we've spent far too much time trying to sell R10-R100 information products which means we need a huge market & lots of time & marketing efforts to come even close to reaching R 100 000.

Great video Hannes :) I realise I need to increase my prices to reach my goals sooner but I just don't see a path between my current "cheap" pricing and the pricing that will get me to my goals sooner. I've sold 865 products this past year and if I was making R1,000 profit per order - wow life would be a lot better :P Thanks for this insight!

One question that comes to mind is: How do you deal with the extra support and hand-holding that higher-paying clients normally require? I find that by offering my services cheaply, I can just offer email support and it's enough but higher-paying clients might require more?

Amazing simple idea, and thank you for the clarity you gave me. Recently I implemented this idea to some small extend by increasing my fees.

Now I realized that I need to work less to reach my income goal. You explained to me what I actually did, without realizing it that I'm on the right track.

Now I know how to plan better and set more realistic sales targets.

@Norio, remember to add value that justifies the price increases. You might need to spend more time per client, but not to the extend of the increase as you can add value in alternative ways than selling time.

I did this with a completely different offer (http://www.maxiware.co.za/how-you-can-get-new-r15000-website-r9470.html), sent to completely new people and made an extra R25k in just 2 weeks! Now I'm sorted for December, which is normally a dead month for me. I'm so chuffed with this!

Of course, the way I've done it is not ideal as it takes a lot of time and depends 100% on me but it helped me get my December sorted which has always been an issue for me, ever since I went out on my own.

Now, for 2012 I intend on making my current "cheap" product (just1.co.za) offer more value - without alienating existing clients - and then charge more. 2012 is looking a lot more exciting for me now!
