6 Tips to be Panic Free

To panic is a very natural emotion and in certain situations a very useful, in times of true danger it is responsible for getting the adrenalin flowing in your system so as to help you make the decision of ‘fight or flight’. But in the incorrect scenario it can become a very debilitating and lonely disorder to be suffering from.

Unfortunately due to the ever increasing stress levels of our modern day lifestyle, more and more people are falling victim to panic related disorders and are witnessing firsthand the very negative effects which such a disorder is capable of having on ones life.

Here are a couple of very useful tips to help you in being able to control the effect which panic may have on your day to day life.

1.    Health helps – Believe it or not, ones mental and physical health walk hand in hand, it is for this reason that you should be doing all you can to keep yourself healthy in all aspects of your life.

As I teach my Kaizen Wealth students, you need to have harmony in all seven areas of your life to be able to experience well being and the same is applicable when it comes to overcoming panic and its effects. If you are healthy physically then it will automatically spill over into your mental stability as your blood is circulating correctly and due to this you will be able to handle stress and other situations in a far more effective way.

2.    Breath to be free – Although you may not believe it, the way you breathe has an enormous influence on your mental state, this is why when you are feeling the effects of panic, your breathing becomes irregular or shallower. It has been proven that by simply employing effective deep breathing techniques, you will be able to reduce the effects of panic on your body.

Take the time to invest in yourself, and learn a few relaxation breathing exercises as they will be able to assist you greatly in your quest to overcome panic.

3.    Find the source – Try to keep a panic diary or similar record of when it is that the panic hits you so as to be able to actually address the source of your panic and the reasons for you suffering such episodes. This record is for your eyes only if you wish, so feel free to list all of the situations, possible triggers and stimuli which might be involved in causing your panic.

By doing this you will begin to get a far clearer picture of what the causes are for your panic and then you will be far better equipped to be able to handle the situation.

4.    Avoid stimulants – Stimulants such as caffeine, alcohol, sugar and some over the counter flu medicines have been proven to be serious stress and panic catalysts. By cutting them out of your system, you will be going a long way towards reducing the frequency and degree of panic in your life.

5.    Alleviate your stress levels – The more stressed you are, the more of an effect panic will be able to have in your life. Finding effective relaxation methods for yourself such as, meditation, prayer, yoga or the Bagha, will greatly assist you in being able to reduce the stress and panic in your day to day life.

6.    Seek treatment – It is no shame to go in search of professional help to assist you in being able to overcome your panic problem. Increasing numbers of people are seeking help for this type of disorder every year, it is more detrimental to you if you allow this mild panic problem to develop into a full on disorder because you are too proud to admit that you have a problem.

The secret though is to look for the type of treatment which is the healthiest for you. There are many options available nowadays which do not include getting put on prescription medication such as, hypnotherapy, acupuncture, cognitive behavioral therapy and various other methods of alternate brainwave therapy.

The big secret here is for you to be happy and healthy down the road to recovery and by this I mean that you should rather want to look at treating the cause of the panic before you try to disguise the symptoms.

If one is willing to apply the Kaizen Principle and continually address the areas of your life which are causing the panic, you will soon realize that you are actually in control and need to take responsibility for the effects which you are allowing panic to have in your life. Sometimes by taking small but constant steps in a positive direction is far better than trying to overcome a major hurdle in one bound.

I think we all owe it to ourselves to be as happy as we possibly can, so as to be able to advance in life. Should you have any comments as to this regard, please feel free to make them and if you have tips for others suffering from panic, let us know what they are as well.
