When it comes to the topic of learning to cope with things which we have no control over, there is probably no way to summarize it better than it was done by Reinhold Niebuhr when he wrote the Serenity Prayer which went as follows:
“God grant me the serenity
To accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can,
And wisdom to know the difference.”
This verse in itself holds all the answers to questions relating to how one should or could possibly begin to deal with that which are out of our control and because they are out of our control, it is impossible for us to change them.
Now I ask you, why is it that we as people so often allow negativity, frustration and pain into our lives which is caused by something which we have no control over and therefore it does not belong to us?
We allow the outside influences to determine our state of mind and level of happiness in our lives, so essentially what we are effectively doing is handing over a large portion of our responsibility for our own happiness and well being to influences out of our control, surely this can not be the mentality of a Wealth Creator or even level headed individual.
To be able to apply the Kaizen Principle in our lives so as to become the best we possibly can be and then still improve on that, it is essential that we learn how to cope with such events which are out of our control and still come out with a positive mindset on the other side.
Life does have ways of throwing challenges our way but it is how we go about learning to cope with these challenges which will eventually determine our outcomes in life. If we choose to take the Kaizen Wealth approach and see every obstacle or challenge we receive as an opportunity to grow and move forward then chances are we will have far less stress and far more harmony in our lives.
We need to all realize that we can only be in control of our own actions and reactions, further than that we have no control over the actions or reactions which others might have. We need to be able to be responsible for the decisions we make and mindsets we entertain as these are what will determine the actions and reactions which we choose to use.
Let’s have a look at what it is that we can control.
So many people are under the false impression that they have control over the happenings in other people’s lives around them, but this is a misguided delusion, yes we can offer advice and support to them, but at no time are you actually in control of the outcomes of their lives. This is probably one of the greatest stress causers in our lives.
The actual truth behind it all is that you are only in control of that which you can physically change, all the decisions of those around you are their own and you have no control over that what so ever. The minute this becomes a reality in your own mind, the task of learning to cope with that which is going on around you becomes far easier.
You can control your own mindset and that which you choose to allow to occupy it, so if you choose to surround yourself with negativity and the problems of others, you can only expect negative results and more problems.
In my Kaizen Wealth Course, I teach this principle very clearly to my students and even supply them with progressive daily mental exercises which help them to be able to correct the negative and detrimental self programming which they might have.
Once we realize that we are in effect only responsible for our own actions, thoughts and deeds, we begin to realize that it is far more effective to try and help those around us when we truly are in control of ourselves than to try to take control of their problems so as to help them.
The moment we realize that every day is actually a gift to us and that we should use it to its full potential and take time to realize what is all around us and how thankful we should be for that which we have, the easier it becomes to learn to cope with the things we can not control.
As soon as we become aware of what it is we can change, the sooner we will be able to accept those which we cannot change, then it is up to each one of us to seek the wisdom to be able to further distinguish between the two.
As with everything in life, learning to cope with all that is going on around us is a learning process and a major lesson we all need to begin to learn is learning to cope with that which is out of our control, the more we learn this lesson, the less our stress becomes and the easier it is to maintain a positive and harmonious mindset. It is this mindset which at of the end of the day leads us to a life of abundance and success.
