How to keep New Years Resolutions

Why is it that most of the time that we make New Years resolutions they tend to fade away before we even reach the end of January? Let me shed some light on this problem for you.

The main reason for the ineffectiveness of a New Years resolution lays completely and utterly in your lap, it is because most of these resolutions are made at the spur of the moment and carry no weight within your subconscious mind and it is for this reason that you are not able or motivated to take the relevant action to fulfill the resolution which you have made.

So the secret to fulfilling these resolutions is to approach them with a goal in mind and with a determination and will, without these aspects any resolution will become like a pipe line goal which has no structure and simply fade away. If you are not willing to take the necessary action, do not set such goals for yourself as you will only be setting yourself up for failure.

So when deciding what New Years resolutions to make be sure that it is something which you truly want and desire, in this way you will automatically be able to motivate yourself to find a way to achieve it. This principle, as I teach the students on my Kaizen-Wealth Program and Wealth Creators Mentors Course, is the fundamental basis for any goal setting which you do in your life and without effective goal setting, you will have nothing to aim towards so as to be able to achieve it.

When making your resolution on New Years, make sure that the goal is attainable, you must also be very clear in the way that you state what it is which you wish to achieve. Lastly but probably most importantly, be sure that the resolution which you are making is one which you truly want and not one designed to please other people.

Once you have been able to do this while being completely honest with yourself, you will now need to formulate a plan as to how you will go about achieving the resolution which you have made. Here are a few tips which may be of use in this regard.

1.    Remain focused – There obviously was a reason why you chose to make this resolution, so as you begin to plan how to achieve it, keep it in mind constantly, focus intently on the resolution which you have made so that you will have access to possible ways by which you can achieve it, never let your focus be swayed or diminished.
2.    Establish a plan of action – Look at your end goal and decide how you will go about attaining it, this may seem very overwhelming at first but don’t worry as the secret is in breaking the end goal up into a whole lot of smaller goals which are attainable and well within your reach. By doing this you will be applying the Kaizen Principle by taking small but continual small steps to reach your final destination which is the goal or resolution which you made in the first place.
3.    Stay motivated and passionate – Far too often we will tackle a New Years resolution with awesome gusto in the beginning as we are motivated, but the moment we loose that motivation, the resolution is lost in the process. The secret here is to find ways to keep yourself motivated and on track, one way is to do constant evaluations as to your progress in achieving the resolution. Other ways include the promise of self reward, continuous re-evaluation of the goal and finding out the truth behind why you made the resolution.

By following these simple steps you will greatly increase your chances of being able to say that you have stuck to your New Years resolution and if you wish apply them to other areas of your life as well as this too could be very beneficial.

As I teach in the Kaizen-Wealth Program and on my Wealth Creators Mentoring course, you need to be able to take responsibility for your own actions. The other point is that many great things can be achieved if you are willing to become an action taker and you know how to go about it correctly.

Ask yourself the question, “How many New Years resolutions have you broken? How many have you kept? What helped you keep those which you succeeded with?” all of these questions will help you to determine what it is which motivates you to succeed at something. Now, my question to you is, how do you feel when you break a New Years resolution? And wouldn’t it be great if that never had to happen again?
